PANAMA CITY, PANAMA – March 7th, 2006: Haydrian Corporation, one of the emerging leaders in providing technology solutions to prevent, detect and monitor financial crime worldwide, held an executive conference tour in several countries in Central America to discuss the Global Lessons Learned in the Fight against Financial Crime as well as sharing best practices on how to achieve excellence in Anti-Money Laundering.

The Haydrian Team was headed by Dell Keehn, Haydrian Chief Operating Officer, Martin Owen, Vice President of Product Design, Alex Logan, Vice President of Latin America and Pablo Ruidiaz, Regional Manager for Central America. Also presenting were Haydrian’s partners World Compliance (Watch List Vendor), and ASI Consultant, a Central America regional partner for Haydrian. The conference reached several top financial institutions officers and regulators in Panama, Honduras, El Salvador, and Guatemala.

"We wanted to ensure the audience is aware that this is a global phenomenon that all countries must be prepared to face. We all know what happened on September 11th in the United States and later in Spain and Great Britain", said Ruidiaz. Such events had great influence in other countries with regards to ensuring public safety of its citizens, said Ruidiaz. "The Financial institutions and their advisers are expected to make a strong contribution to provide minimum prevention and have the ability to alert the regulatory institutions of potential suspicious transactions that circulate through the financial institutions".

The new trends to detect and fight financial crimes and counter terrorism financing require that financial institutions are up to date with the latest regulations, explained Ruidiaz, and mentioning Basel II as an example of regulatory guidelines that brings very important elements on the area of risk management to financial institutions.

"At first, the financial compliance and risk management was associated to cost, by the financial institutions, but now, companies are realizing it is actually a long term investment in order to protect their reputation, corporate imaging and their institutions' assets" said Ruidiaz.
